It's here! The much awaited for XV mixtape! No words. Just damn good music. Let's go!
Huge track from XV right here off his mixtape that drops today entitled "Everybody's Nobody". Both Sev & Sean go in on some crazy ishh right here. Definitely get this for now to quench your thirst until the real deal drops!
Don't sleep on this, guys. This dude is definitely someone to look out for!!
I dropped the video a couple days back. But as an appreciation, Rhymesayers has hooked us up with the official CDQ version of the song for free! Brother Ali's album of the same name drops September 22nd! Look out, it's Rhymesayers's season!
Finally, a No-DJ version just dropped last night! Another leak of the much-anticipated hat-trick album from Clipse, "Till the Casket Drops". This one's a good one, definitely a step up from that last leak. Check it out!
So as most of you know, I went to that Coldplay concert yesterday. Possibly one of the greatest experiences I was so blessed to have. I couldn't get HQ pics/vids but I'll post a few things up later tonight or tomorrow anyways.
Regardless of that, Coldplay has released a new free iPhone app based on their new "Strawberry Swing" video. It includes a live news feed, the Coldplay video catalogue, and the "Strawberry Swing" game. Sounds interesting, huh?
DOWNLOAD APP HERE
Definitely getting this once I get my iPhone. Enjoy!!

Something new from Luckyiam. On August 2nd (his birthday) he's dropping an album with Diamond Supply Co. called "The Present". Here's a free track from that. He'll be leaking another track from the album on Friday, so stay tuned! For now, here's "Sumpthin 2 Say", with Imani of The Pharcyde and Pep Love. Really ill track, check it out.
A track off the soundtrack of upcoming Rik Cordero movie "Inside a Change". Consequence and Statik team up alongside Band Camp for this great composition. Looking forward to hearing more from this soundtrack and the movie!
M-Trey and CJ get up on the new Jay-Z track with massive heat. Both of these two are looking to be something to seek out in the future. Now go listen to this track a couple times, 'cause I know you would have even if I didn't tell you to.
The video for Brother Ali's new album of the same name. Ill ishh as usual from the Brother. I'm looking forward to this one, his last album was absolute insanity. Check out the track!
New Statik track from his upcoming album "100 Proof (The Hangover)". A very odd combination yet they end up dope together on this track, you guys should check this out.
The first single off of the anticipated Skyzoo album "The Salvation" is finally out! Really dope track produced by the one and only 9th Wonder. Check it out below..
Kenna hooked up with HP to promote their new "You On You" Project. This is pretty cool. You have to make a video about yourself without showing your face. Ironic because Kenna's last album was called "Make Sure They See My Face". Regardless, here's the video promo. Give me a shout if you guys do this and I'll post it on the blog!
The first single off of the Crown City Rockers's upcoming album "The Day After Forever". If you don't know this group, they're a jazz-rap band that sounds similar to ArtOfficial and MoJoe. Check out this smooth track to hear what I'm talking about!
Spotted @ MusicalSchizophrenia
Probably my favorite song by Coldplay. Such an original and melodious song, really hits you hard from the start. And the message is very deep as well; an overall classic track. In my opinion, the best song they've ever made.
Tres Records is dropping an instrumental release of Blu & Mainframe's debut album as Johnson & Jonson. If you've heard the album, you already know this is going to be major dope, and if you haven't checked out the album yet - cop it already!! Definitely worth it! Here's a track leak off the album, entited "Radical 2". Check it out!
So the much awaited mixtape from blog-legend QuEST is finally out. His past releases were pretty good, but I wasn't feeling them as much as the hype was going. This one? Hell yes. This is dope as hell, do NOT miss out on this listening experience. First Nero and now him? The future of hip-hop looks very friendly. But check it out for yourself!

Enjoy it, guys! Hopefully he drops more soon!

To be honest, not really sure about this one. Kind of an off track, probably the first Clipse track that I don't even want to listen to again. But here it is anyways, maybe you guys think otherwise. This is another leak off their upcoming album "Till the Casket Drops". Third time's the charm? Let's see..
- The Moon Man
- Welcome To The World (Remix) (Feat. Kevin Rudolf, Rick Ross)
- Everything Is Broken (Feat. Mr. Hudson)
- Higher Up
- Make Her Say (Feat. Kanye West, Common)
- Buggin Out (Feat. Consequence, J. Period)
- Boom Boom Pow (Remix) (Feat. Black Eyed Peas, Busta Rhymes, Gucci Mane)
- Sky Might Fall (Remix) (Feat. Rick Ross)
- Look Up In The Stars (Feat. Wale)
- Day N Nite
- Sky High (Feat. Kanye West)
- Excuse My Mood
- Date New (Remix) (Feat. Yung O)
- Can I Be
- Switchin Lanes
- Therapy Part 2 (Feat. Talib Kweli, Alchemist, Evidence, Blu)
So I changed my mind about AOTW this week. Originally I didn't want to give an up-and-coming artist the disadvantage of a smaller week for a feature, but then I decided that I really don't need to make it an independent artist. I chose an artist that can spare the one-day loss. This band is Coldplay. But the main reason is because I'm going to their concert on Thursday (!!!) and it felt fitting.
They aren't really hip-hop, but they've worked with lyrical giants like Jay-Z and Kanye West and made a mark on this genre like many other bands are doing lately. The internet has given people all over the world to share their music and some of these people began mixing genres. The industry noticed this and began doing the same with original songs. Hip-hop bands and rock bands began collaborating a lot more after this boom of mash-up music. This wasn't the first wave, though; remember Run DMC & Aerosmith? But anyways, back to Coldplay..
I can't even remember the first time I listened to my to-be favorite rock band ever. It was probably "Clocks" or "The Scientist" that got me into them; but I've loved them ever since I can remember. Originally being coined as "Christian Rock", Coldplay began composing new and innovative music and soon lost that tag and became an "Alternative" band. Mixing an abundance of piano and strings along with the usual rock instruments such as guitars and drums, Coldplay's sound can only be described as "harmonic beauty". Deep meanings, intelligent metaphors, and songs that get stuck in your head for days, and not to mention four-time multi-platinum-ers, this band is definitely one of the greatest of all time.

Beast of a lineup right there. Track off Jay's upcoming "Blueprint 3"; this album is going on to be on some next level craziness. Very excited after hearing this. Check it out!

Only thing I'm dropping tonight. Internet terrible at this hotel so I can't do much. It's a wonder how I even got this up on here. Anyways, really dope track by one of my fave up-and-coming artists, Big Sean. Check-check it!
I'm off on vacation for the next couple days. I might blog during the night, but during the day - doubtful. I'll be back sometime on Monday, so until then the blog will be updated very less.

Guilty Simpson & Madlib join forces to create the duo"OJ Simpson". This song sounds incredible, but I mean with two artists like these, what else can you expect? For real, this is going to be a classical album, I can smell it already. Anyways, down to business - here's the track.
EDIT: The Guilty Simpson x Madlib exclusives will be hitting on the Stones Throw site, so keep updated on there just in case I miss something.
New Beatwize logo! Props to aRJay Designs for this one, hit him up for all thing GFX. He really knows his stuff!! Check it out
D-Sisive is a hip-hop artist from Toronto, Canada. If you haven't noticed yet, he is currently WhatFeelingsSoundLike (WFSL-beatwizemusic.blogspot.com) Artist of the Week. To fit the week's theme, I got to ask him a couple questions. I already knew this was going to end up different than most interviews. Not only was I right, but I was glad to get something more than the usual, generic answers one would usually hear. This dude D is definitely something different, not only in his music, but also in his personality. He's the type of guy you'd chill with at a bar, have a beer or two and just have a good time talking. And to top it all off, he's a great artist with a very bright future. Here it is - Joker with a Mic: An Interview with D-Sisive..
Beatwize: Hey, what's good D? It's good to finally have you on the blog. To start off, let's get a quick bio of you for the readers.
D-Sisive: Go to http://www.myspace.com/dsisive and read the boring, drawn out bio. Haha.
Beatwize: What got you into hip-hop music?
D-Sisive: A Nightmare on Elm Street. My obsession with Freddy Krueger led to my obsession with anything related to the film. DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince's Nightmare on my Street being one of them. A glow in the dark t-shirt being another. I bought He's the DJ, I'm the Rapper for that song only. Until then, the only music I owned was Aerosmith: Toys in the Attic and the La Bamba soundtrack on cassette. I no longer wanted to be Richie Valens. Will Smith was it. 19 years later, my new sitcom is finally in production.
Beatwize: Wow, that's definitely something different. "Let the Children Die" came out earlier this year, one of my personal favorites. What can current and future fans expect from you next?
D-Sisive: Jonestown. November 18/09.
Beatwize: Who and what are your greatest inspirations as an artist?
D-Sisive: Who? Argar & Joan-Anne Christoff. Kalpna Patel. David Bowie. Lou Reed. Rufus Wainwright. David Lynch. Brian Wilson. Crispin Glover. Randy 'Macho Man' Savage. And the list goes on...What? Sewers. Boa Staffs. Turtles. Headband-FaceMasks. Sai's. Nunchucks. Swords. Red. Yellow. Blue. Purple. Pizza. And the list goes on...
Beatwize: That's..interesting. You've worked with numerous Canadian hip-hop artists, some much more known than others. Who do you think was the most enjoyable to work with?
D-Sisive: Muneshine and The Arkeologists. The Arkeologists are responsible for waking me out of my hibernation. If krates never leaked Kneecaps, none of this would have happened. Muneshine is an amazing Rapper-Producer. Our chemistry is insanity. We knock out songs like nothing. Written-Produced-Mixed-Mastered-Marketed-Released-Billboard top 100 all in one day. Last night Muneshine and I were eating macaroons and watching the Jack Nicholson film, Wolf. The macaroons looked like dog shit. When bitten, the coconut made them look like white dog shit. Mune said 'if dog shit tasted like this, I'd eat dog shit all day, son.' That was pretty amazing.
Beatwize: Which artists would you want to work with in the near future?
D-Sisive: Jason Schwartzman. He's an incredible talent. I'm obsessed with his music right now. Andre 3000. Tom waits. DangerMouse. Grafh. There's quite a few.
Beatwize: What artists do you dream to work with?
D-Sisive: David Bowie. As far as I'm concerned, he's the be all end all. The king.
Beatwize:Who is your favorite artist at current, and why?
D-Sisive: Coconut Records. Jason Schwartzman's project. I just recently found out he made music and I love it. Also, the new DangerMouse and Sparklehorse project Dark Night of the Soul with David Lynch. Everything about that project is brilliant.
Beatwize: Are you currently working on any projects?
D-Sisive: I'm always working on new projects. Building my Prince Vault. I'm also focusing on getting the world to listen to Let The Children Die. It's my baby. He's going to be a boxer someday. I can tell by this picture of him with his hands up. Isn't he cute? He's going to be in next months Sears' catalogue.
Beatwize: Anything else you would like to say to the fans?
D-Sisive: Thank you for being a friend. Travelled down the road and back again. Your heart is true. You're a pal and a confidant. And if you threw a party, invited everyone you knew. You would see the biggest gift would be from me. And the card attached would say...Thank you for being a friend.
Beatwize: Lmao..thank you so much for your time.
D-Sisive: No, thank you...For being a friend.

Here's a video from D-Sisive's album "Let the Children Die". An interesting concept in this song, so actually listen to the lyrics. This guy gets really deep, so you can't miss anything. I personally love this song, it was second track I'd heard from D and it's probably my favorite. Check it out!
This is off of Wordsmith's upcoming album entitled "The Overdue & Underrated". Really ill track from this dude right here. His album should be something special, so I'm definitely going to take a look when it drops. For now, here's the single to get yourself prepared.

New from the Slaughterhouse gang. Dope as usual. I repeat for like the hundredth time - I can NOT wait for this album. Going to be absolutely amazing. Here's the drop for now..word!
Damn yo. A. Roth a.k.a. "Never Take a Day Off" bringing that heat on an already hot beat. This dude never sleeps for real, he's the definition of workaholic. Keep up the great work! The much awaited for sequel to The Greenhouse Effect is coming very soon! Very excited for that. Anyways, here's something to keep you (me) busy while you (I) wait..
New track, "How I Got Over" off of The Roots upcoming album of the same name. This is really dope, as usual. Damn man, do these guys ever do a bad track? Insanity right here. I'm really excited about this new album, should be really good. But all we have right now is this single, so I guess I'll have to deal with what I got. Which actually isn't bad at all. Check it out!
This Free-EP came out in 2008, so it's a late drop; but better late than never! Fundament & Shinogo are both from Toronto, Canada. Fundament is a talented emcee and Shinogo is a smooth, jazzy-style producer. This combination will leave in a trance as the music plays. Trust me, check this out. There will be more on these artists on this blog very soon including more audio, videos, and interviews. Toronto stand UP!
I wish Yauch and his friends and family the best during this time. It's not easy to go through something like this. Stand strong & keep believing.
"Adam “MCA” Yauch of Beastie Boys was diagnosed last week as having a cancerous tumor in his left parotid (salivary) gland. Luckily it was caught early and is localized in one area, and as such is considered very treatable. It will however require surgery and several weeks of additional treatment. Fortunately the cancer is not in a location that will affect Yauch’s vocal chords.
Beastie Boys have canceled all upcoming concert appearances to allow time for Yauch’s surgery and recovery. The release of the band’s forthcoming album Hot Sauce Committee Part 1 will also be pushed back.
Paraphrasing from a video statement on Beastieboys.com, Yauch said, “I just need to take a little time to get this in check, and then we’ll release the record and play some shows. It’s a pain in the neck (sorry had to say it) because i was really looking forward to playing these shows, but the doctors have made it clear that this is not the kind of thing that can be put aside to deal with later.”"

Here's a great group from London, Ontario. It consists of Adam Dick (MC) and Sean Goodchild (singer). They are currently working on their debut album with Classified's mixing engineer, Dan Weston. Here's the single off this album, which is also available on iTunes. Download it here. You will be getting more of this group in the coming weeks, so stay tuned for a lot more!

D-Sisive, a rapper from Toronto, has a very unique and interesting style. A type of character that will grab you from word-one, but will leave you baffled from that point on. A dark, yet humorous personality, all-the-while intelligent and thought-provoking. D is many things, and a great lyricist is one on that list. With collaborations with Classified, continuing work with Muneshine, and a Juno in hand, D-Sisive has set his mark in Canadian hip-hop.
The first time I heard D-Sisive was on "Wonderful World", and it didn't even take me a minute into the song to realize this guy was something different. Large glasses while standing on what looked like a farm, I could tell I was in for a completely new type of rap. I was right, but not in the bad sense. He brought on dark truth about the state of the world like I've never heard it before. I had to hear more; that brought me to "Daydream". Soon I realized that I was ready to buy his album. D-Sisive hooked me, as I know he'll hook you.
D-Sisive has a few releases including his debut album "Let The Children Die". Don't get startled by the name, there's a deeper meaning to the title that you'll have to figure out for yourself. Other releases include "Nobody With A Notepad (plus 3) EP", "Like This (plus 3) EP", and "The Book", all of which are must-haves.
This week I'll give you a chance to dig into the D-Sisive crate. A mind like none other and a style that will leave you wanting more. The coming days will include videos, possibly audio, and an interview with the man himself. Stay tuned! But, if you already want more, check out the following sites:

It's finally here! Hated this song in the beginning, but it grew on me like crazy. I was just listening to this on the way to work. All three rip it apart, and that beat is just..wow. Anyways, here's the highly anticipated video of "Make Her Say" off Cudi's upcoming album "Man on the Moon: The End of the Day".
This is one of my favorite songs off "Viva La Vida". Very upbeat, happy song. I'm so glad they added a visual to this track.

This was Shad's first major single. That sample is cut so perfectly, I love it. The beat along with Shad's lyrics make you attached immediately. But don't take it from me, check it out for yourself..
The Beastie Boys are back! But with an unexpected collaborator..Nas? Damn. I had my doubts, but this is pretty good. Not a huge track, but definitely something to listen to. This is off their upcoming album "Hot Sauce Committee" which comes out Sept. 15.

Words from iHipHop: iHipHop had the opportunity to sit down with freshman phenom, Wale, last week in Chicago. The rapper discussed how his direct line of communication with Jay-Z has given him a leg up in business type situations. He also cited Jay’s advice as allowing him to maintain a certain amount of normalcy in the fast paced hip-hop world. Wale delves into the rapid evolution of the DC hip hop scene, and what the fans can expect from his debut album on Alido/Interscope “Attention Deficit”.

It's that Canadian hip-hop. Really dope stuff right here. You guys really gotta check out more Tona, he's incredibly talented. Saukrates and T-R are pretty sick as well; this lineup is a Canadian bomb, no joke. This is off Tona (MC) & Lyfe's (producer) new album "Direct Deposit" which you can cop on iTunes right now. Here's a link to the DOWNLOAD of this track. And Tona as a website as well. Now, enough of that, let's get to the video..
Fly Union dropped this 4-track EP just now on Twitter. It includes "Poed Up" Feat. Big Sean, a track I dropped just 2 days back. Check it out, it's pretty dope.
1. Poed Up Feat. Big Sean
4. I'm Good
One of my favorite rappers signed with one of my favorite label collectives; this is too good! Imagine Ev & Slug over an Ant beat? Or even Ev & Murs? Say word! Here's Ev's reaction to the news..
Words from Dan: "The other day I got a chance to cash in on a favor that I must say was well worth the wait. The back end story is way to long so I’ll save it for another day. You may or may not have heard of my friend No I.D., he recently produced Jay-Z’s latest single off of the soon to release Blueprint 3. It’s a track titled Death Of Autotune, which by the title alone you can see why it warrants much hype. I had the idea to get his thoughts about the song on camera, being that he made the song. So I ran the idea by my buddy Zach Wolfe and I knew with his years of expertise we had a mini documentary in the making. No I.D. has been in and out of the city lately so I caught up with him while he was in town for one day. The documentary takes place at the St. Regis hotel in Atlanta’s famous Buckhead region of the city. Enough talking, start watching, press play andlet the story begin."
It's finally here! The free Pac Div mixtape! I've been waiting on this for a while, so I'm very excited as I'm sure many of you are! Check it out and enjoy!!
So I copped this tape 2-3 days ago and checked it out. Right off the bat I was impressed by CJ. He creatively uses video game samples (I think they're all N64 songs) and raps over them with his own original style. Me being a huge fan of N64 since I don't even know when made this even more fun to listen to. I was catching all of these Mario Kart samples and I absolutely loved it. I'm sure you will too. Cop that quick!!
This is a drop from a movie that's coming out a year from now. Kinda weird for a leak to come out this early, but it's Skateboard P, so it's allll good. Dope track from the dude as usual. Check it out!
"Quality music getting quality spins, y'all stay second-rate Chingy's at the quality in". 'Nuff said.
Saigon talks about his record label and the upcoming album.

Me and iLLiad go way back; back when he was known as Fate L. We did a project together and worked on other collaborations. I used to think he was a good artist that still needed some growth. Last night I decided to check out his new project "Nostalgics", and honestly..he's grown. A lot. This tape (album?) really goes hard and I give this a "must-have" rating. Check it out.
Catch more iLLiad on his blog - TheBoomBoxUnion.
