I remember the first time I heard Kid Cudi. Well, actually the second time. The first was when I heard "Welcome to Heartbreak". But that wasn't a clear idea of who Cudi really was. The real first time was when I heard "Day & Night". I hated him.
Everyone tried to get me into the song and I couldn't stand it. Maybe it was the fact that it was being forced on me by nearly every friend that was into hip-hop music. I don't know what it was, but I couldn't stand it. Then one day, I found myself listening to it. Once..twice..three times. Before I knew it I was listening to the tape "A Kid Named Cudi" and I couldn't stop listening to his original, abstract style. I Embraced the Martian.
Soon after (I think) I heard the 'Buggin' Out Remix' with him and Consequence. Again, I was hooked. This is when I knew the Kid from Cleveland was something special.
Kid Cudi is currently signed to Kanye's label G.O.O.D. Music. With hits like "Day & Night", "Make Her Say", and numerous others, this Kid is definitely going to be something huge this year and in the years ahead. His first album "Man on the Moon: The End of the Day" is coming out August 25th this year. It includes production by Kanye West and Dot Da Genius and guest appearances by Common and Snoop Dogg. Kid Cudi's originality, along with catchy and creative lyrics make him not only a great rapper, but a standout artist as well.
